Important licensing note

Vanguards Casino has no Gambling Commission licence, so British players get no GAMSTOP, none of the UK’s player protections, and no independent body to take a complaint. Its About page says it’s licensed in Curaçao without naming a company or a licence number, and the Curaçao Gaming Authority’s records don’t include it.

The Vanguards Casino sister sites

The five Vanguards Casino sister sites featured below share its games and rules, but they differ in look, player feedback, and withdrawal approval times.

vanguards casino sister sites banner
boombet logo

BoomBet

  • The closest match: BoomBet gives itself the same 18 working days to approve a withdrawal as Vanguards Casino, which none of the other four do.
  • The explosive one: It swaps purple and gold for black and red, with a cartoon bomb and a lit fuse on its promotions page, where Vanguards Casino has a gold knight.
  • A defined cap: Its 200% first-deposit bonus caps at £2,000 and is meant for slots, keno, and scratch cards, which is more than the Vanguards Casino offer page offers as information.
  • Insurance for the tables: Its 100% cashback insurance is for table games rather than slots.
  • Comp points: The casino has a comp points programme instead of VIP Loyalty Points, with no next-day cashback at all.
  • Best for: Table game players who want cashback focused on blackjack and roulette rather than slots.
candyland casino logo

Candyland Casino

  • The sweet one: Candyland Casino is all magenta and pink, with a dripping lollipop in its logo and on every promotion.
  • Four days faster: Its terms allow up to 14 working days to approve a withdrawal, compared with 18 at Vanguards Casino.
  • Plenty of reviews: Its Trustpilot profile has 1,480 reviews and a 4.5 rating, the most of the five Vanguards Casino sister sites here.
  • Better at answering back: It has replied to 39% of its negative reviews, more than twice the rate of Cocoa Casino or This Is Vegas.
  • Same four offers: The 200% deposit bonus and cashback insurance lead its promotions, just as they do at Vanguards Casino.
  • Best for: Players who’d rather have a bright sweet-shop look than a chessboard.
this is vegas logo

This Is Vegas

  • The Las Vegas one: This Is Vegas goes for navy blue and red, with a star in its logo and a roulette wheel on its promotions.
  • Six days faster: Withdrawals take up to 12 working days to approve here, a third less time than Vanguards Casino allows itself.
  • Over a thousand reviews: It has 1,034 Trustpilot reviews and a 4.5 rating, though it’s replied to only 15% of the negative ones.
  • Same phone numbers: Its support page gives its own email address but the same French, Spanish and international phone numbers as Vanguards Casino.
  • Same lobby: Secrets of the Nile and Jackpot Shanty lead the slots here as well, out of the same collection of 978.
  • Best for: Players who want a classic Las Vegas feel from a Vanguards Casino sister site.
cocoa casino logo

Cocoa Casino

  • The chocolate one: Cocoa Casino is dressed in dark chocolate brown, with a cherry dropping into a splash of chocolate on each of its promotions.
  • A shorter wait: Its terms say withdrawals take up to 12 working days to approve, against 18 at Vanguards Casino.
  • Older-style terms: The terms are split into different headings, such as Prizes & Winnings and Misuse of Account, but the rules are the same.
  • Quieter on Trustpilot: It has 932 reviews and a 4.5 rating there, and it has replied to just 14% of the negative ones.
  • Same deposit bonus: The welcome offer is the same 200% deposit bonus with cashback insurance, and the same VIP Loyalty Points follow.
  • Best for: Players who fancy a chocolatey look for exactly the same games.
davincis gold logo

DaVinci’s Gold

  • The gold coin classic: DaVinci’s Gold pairs black with gold, and its promotions feature a gold Bitcoin coin rather than anything from Leonardo’s notebooks. There’s almost no trace of the great artist here, despite the name.
  • Twelve working days: That’s how long its terms allow to approve a withdrawal, six days fewer than Vanguards Casino.
  • Mostly five stars: Its 1,097 Trustpilot reviews average 4.4, with 68% at five stars and 6% at one star.
  • Some replies: It’s answered 20% of its negative reviews, a few more than This Is Vegas or Cocoa Casino.
  • No change to the deal: Its promotions page lays out the same four offers as Vanguards Casino, from the 200% bonus to the loyalty points.
  • Best for: Players who like a gold-and-black look and don’t mind a Bitcoin theme.

How this Vanguards Casino review was made

This is what went into my Vanguards Casino review, and the About Us page sets out how I approach every casino.

Written by
Rob Hill
Research method
I went through Vanguards Casino as a British visitor would, opened every offer to see what it promised, and read the full terms rather than the promo text. I compared it side by side with its sister sites, page for page, but stopped short of opening an account or depositing.

A casino with a chess theme

Vanguards Casino keeps its chess theme simple. The logo is a gold knight’s head beside the name, the site is a deep plum purple with gold buttons, and every promotion has the same shiny gold knight on it. There’s no chess beyond that, but it’s a tidy, good-looking site, and the left-side menu makes it easy to find your way around.

The lobby has 978 slots and other games, split into crash games, exclusives, scratch cards, table games, video poker, live games and speciality games. They come from 15 studios, including Betsoft, Spinomenal, Tom Horn Games, SmartSoft, Felix Gaming, Rival, and Vivo Live. Secrets of the Nile takes the biggest spot on the homepage, with Jackpot Shanty, Caishen’s Arrival, Lava Gold, Wild Fishing, and Sin City Nights nearby. The site describes itself in Google as having “500+ premium slots” and promises payouts “nsow”, so whoever wrote that undersold the games and didn’t proofread their output.

Who runs Vanguards Casino?

You won’t find out from Vanguards Casino. Its About page says it’s run by “an incorporated corporation” licensed in Curaçao and leaves it there, and a few lines later the company’s name is simply missing, so you get sentences like “copyrighted by (the Licensed Materials)” with a gap where the owner should be. The same page says players must be at least 18, while the terms say 25, even though the sign-up form lets you pick a 2008 birth year.

Working out who’s behind it is easier. Vanguards Casino is one of 14 related casinos, and most share the same website template, games, and terms. One of the older-style ones, Pantasia, still says in its footer that SSC Entertainment NV holds the licence, although the licence number it gives, 8048/JAZ, comes from Curaçao’s old master licence system, which has long since been replaced. The sister sites split into two groups. Vanguards Casino, Pure Casino, Candyland Casino, This Is Vegas, Cocoa Casino, DaVinci’s Gold, Paradise 8 and BoomBet lead with a 200% deposit bonus, while New Vegas, Fiz Casino, Casino Lust, Avantgarde, Eurofortune and Crazy Luck go for 400%. Pure Casino uses the same website template, but it lists a different company, Windward Circle B.V., whose Curaçao licence application is still under assessment, so I’ve left it out of this family. Two older names on the network, FatBet and Royal Planet, have recently closed, with one URL up for sale and the other turned into a blog.

Plenty of people still search Google for Vanguard Casino without the s. The old vanguardcasino.com address hasn’t moved with the casino, though. It loads a dated page from 2019 recommending a different casino, Slots Empire, so don’t take anything there as coming from Vanguards Casino.

Bonuses and promotions

There are four offers at present. The welcome bonus pair is a 200% deposit bonus and 100% cashback insurance, and the regular promotions are Cashtravaganza, a next-day cashback, and VIP Loyalty Points. Click into any of them, and you get one line and a link to the general terms, with no wagering requirement, minimum deposit or expiry date on any of them. I don’t think it’s fair to ask anyone to deposit without knowing those.

The general terms do fill in some of the gaps, and not in your favour. Any bonus of 200% or more limits what you can cash out to 10 times your deposit, so the headline welcome bonus caps itself. Bonus money is taken off your balance when you cash out, and anything you win from converted loyalty points is capped at 10 times the converted amount, up to £300.

Payments and withdrawals

According to the banking page, you can deposit with Visa or Mastercard credit and debit cards, Neteller, Skrill, vouchers or Bitcoin, from £5 or £10 depending on the method, up to between £200 and £1,000 a time. The site quotes those limits in euros. A 3% fee comes off every deposit, and credit card deposits can cost up to 6.5%.

Withdrawals are where Vanguards Casino is at its weakest. The terms allow up to 18 working days to approve a withdrawal, the FAQ lists a processing time of up to 18 business days, and the minimum withdrawal is £50. You can withdraw no more than £1,500 at a time or £10,000 a month, and each withdrawal costs between £10 and £40 in fees, even though the FAQ says, “we generally do not charge fees”. The rule that bothers me most is the first one in the withdrawal section. If you deposit £249 or less, you can’t withdraw more than 10 times that deposit from the session, bonus or no bonus, and the rest is cleared from your balance.

Support and safer gambling

Support is available via live chat, email to support@vanguardscasino.com (with verification questions going to documents@vanguardscasino.email), or phone on numbers in France (+33 1 789 00368), Spain (+34 91 290 1420), and the US (+1 718 732 0154). There’s no UK number. Complaints have to be made in writing within five days, and the terms don’t name any independent body to take them to.

On the safer gambling side, you can set daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits, but only by writing to support and asking, and self-exclusion is also something you have to request. The Responsible Gaming page points to Gamblers Anonymous and Gambling Therapy. As an unlicensed site, Vanguards Casino isn’t part of GAMSTOP.

Vanguards Casino’s reputation

If you look for Vanguards Casino on Trustpilot, you won’t find any reviews. Its profile has been removed, and the page now says the business “goes against our guidelines”. Trustpilot doesn’t say why, and I won’t guess, but it’s the same thing that happened to Casino Lust, another casino in this family. Meanwhile, four of the five Vanguards Casino sister sites I’ve covered above have large, very positive profiles, with between 932 and 1,480 reviews each and ratings of 4.4 or 4.5.

The terms add some context. They list any “criticism on a public forum or blog”, past or present, as a breach that lets the casino act against your account. I’d want to be able to complain in public about a casino I’d given my money to, and here you can’t do that without risking your account.

A balanced view

Points in its favour

  • A smart, easy-to-use site with a neat chess theme.
  • 978 games, including crash games and live tables.
  • Live chat plus phone support in three countries.
  • Cashback insurance alongside the deposit bonus.

Points against

  • No named operator and no licence with any respected body.
  • Up to 18 working days to approve a withdrawal.
  • Small deposits capped at 10 times their value.
  • Fees on deposits and withdrawals that the FAQ plays down.

My Vanguards Casino sister sites verdict: a good-looking slow coach

I’ll give Vanguards Casino its due; it’s a nice-looking site with a decent game selection. But when it comes to getting your money out, it’s one of the slowest in a family that’s slow to begin with, and the rules on how much you can take home are stacked against anyone who doesn’t deposit big. Its sister sites share all the same rules. A few of them simply take a little less time to say yes.

I’d give Vanguards Casino and its sister sites a miss. If it was the knight logo that drew you in, Knight Slots has a whole site built around one, and a UK licence behind it. It’s run by Skill On Net Limited under Gambling Commission licence 39326, with no regulatory actions on record, and new players get a 100% bonus up to £30 plus 50 free spins on Big Bass Bonanza from a £10 deposit, with x10 wagering, the legal maximum in the UK.
